Day 10: Children
“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. As arrows are in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth.”
- Psalm 127:3-4 (AMP)
God calls your children a heritage, a reward, AND an arrow!
An arrow in the hand of a warrior is his weapon for war. Why does God refer to our children as weapons? Does that seem odd? God desires your children to be “dangerous for good.” Like arrows, they are to fly swift and far to penetrate into this world, advancing the Gospel.
Your children are the arrows God is launching into the future. He crafts each of them with talents, abilities, and personality traits – all to fit the design He has for them. When you connect with God’s unique plan for your children and train them accordingly, they are certain to travel far.
Lessons from the bow and arrow:
Arrows formed from wood require time, skill, and care to fashion so they remain tempered, strong and stable – able to launch well and fly straight.
The arrow is launched with a bow - that’s you, the parent. The bow must be strong and stable, not wobbly or weak, so the arrow can fly far.
Do you see yourself as the leader and the trainer in your parenting role? Your children are watching and following you more than you realize!
Father, I declare, as a parent, that I am stable and fixed, a planting of the Lord that you will be glorified in my parenting style. I have confidence as I follow you in forming and fashioning my children to launch well.
