Day 16: Joy

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. - Galatians 5:22-23 (AMP)

“Have you had your happy juice?” When I heard those words it meant that I was letting the stress show on my face. I was on the management team at Starbucks and when things got intense the staff knew that a little espresso would help me shift into hyper-speed and smile brilliantly: happy juice!!!

That happiness was temporary. As Christians we need more than happy juice to experience an enjoyable life - we need the force of joy!

Maybe you feel like you need an injection of happy juice, straight into your veins! “Load me up, Lord!” ...You don’t need happy juice, you need to activate the force of joy in your life!

When we accept Jesus as our Savior, His Holy Spirit comes and lives on the inside of us, and we begin to develop the fruit of the spirit. The best way to grow this fruit in your life is to confess the word of God, and believe that it is in you, even when it doesn’t feel like it! Remember, joy is NOT a feeling; it is a powerful, stabilizing force that lives in YOU! When stress comes, and your faith is challenged, stand strong, knowing that God’s joy in you will keep you in a place of peace, and strength! It’s more than a happy feeling; it’s the force of joy!

Today’s Declaration

I declare the force of joy is at work in my life! I am strong because the joy of the Lord is my strength! The fruit of the spirit is growing and developing in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. I believe and trust in God, and I greatly rejoice and delight with inexpressible and glorious joy! I have delight in knowing that the Lord takes great joy in answering my prayers. (Nehemiah 8:10, Galatians 5:23-24, 1 Peter 1:8, John 16:34)
