Day 19: Prayer for Missionaries

Day19.jpg

“How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?  And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring good news of good things!”  - Romans 10:14-15 MEV

Referring to Acts 13:1-3, the first instance recorded in scripture of Paul and Barnabas being sent as missionaries by the early church, David Platt wrote:

“The Spirit and the church sent Paul and Barnabas--the whole church, not simply a few people. The church demonstrated a commitment to upholding those they sent out, even when separated by time and distance. Essentially, the church said to the missionaries, ‘We are with you.’  Remarkably, the primary manner they did so was through Spirit-empowered prayer.”

Today, our prayers remain the greatest way we can support those we are sending out, invoking the very power of God to intervene in ways that are beyond our human limitations to save the lost.”

Let us invoke the very power of God for our missionaries as we pray for them in the Spirit and with our understanding for...

  • Wisdom (Ephesians 1:15-19, James. 1:5)

  • Protection (Psalm 91, Psalm 121)

  • Cultural sensitivity and a heart of humility (1 Corinthians 10:23-33, Titus 3:2)

  • Strong marriages, healthy children, and contentment for the singles (Ephesians 5:33, Is. 54:13, Ps. 68:6)

  • Financial provision  (Philippians 4:19)

  • Favor with unbelievers (Luke 10:5-7)

  • Boldness to preach the Gospel (Ephesians 6:19-20)

Today’s Declaration

Father, our missionaries hear Your voice well and the stranger’s voice they do not follow. They have the mind of Christ and no weapon formed against them will prosper. They have favor with You and with man. A door is opened before them that no man can shut. You always cause them to triumph!
