Day 21: Protection
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will remain secure and rest in the shadow of the Almighty [whose power no enemy can withstand]” - Psalm 91.1 (AMP)
Psalm 91 gets louder in my heart as the world becomes more chaotic. Fear is very high because we hear of wars, gun violence, drugs, depression, etc. We watch negative news at the click of a button. I sing this song to the Lord when all things around me are awry: “Refuge. You’re my refuge. When the world is shaking and nothing stands; I will hold on to Your hands, my refuge.”
The truth is, all things that can be shaken, will be shaken (Hebrews 12.27). There is only One that cannot be moved and that is God. He is our rock, our refuge, and our protection (Psalm 62.7; 2 Samuel 22.3). When we feel shaken, our strength and solid ground comes through making God our refuge.
We have the promise in Proverbs 18:10 to RUN into His strong tower for safety. We can run to the Lord in prayer, to His Word, and to His people for safety. When we see sad news on TV or get a negative doctor’s report, we do not have to let fear rule us. Two words Jesus commonly used in His ministry were “fear not” (Matthew 10:31)! Don’t walk to His hiding place. Run to Him! He is always there wanting to bring His wings over you, “...like a hen gathers her chicks” - Matthew 23.37b. As Romans 10.11 says, our God “will never disappoint us.”
“The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.” - Proverbs 18.10
The presence of God and the Name of Jesus is greater and stronger than anything in this world. I call His Name JESUS and I am saved. I run to Him and I am safe. I trust Him and His Word; therefore He protects me as I call upon Him!
