Day 22: Freedom
Christ has set us free to live a free life. So take your stand! Never again let anyone put a harness of slavery on you. - Galatians 5:1
Jesus gave His life so we’d have eternal life, so we could have a close, personal relationship with God and so we could live free on this earth, free of worry, anxiety, depression, apathy, discouragement, bitterness, pride and the list goes on.
We have been set free, it’s already been done (John 8:36), but in order to live free, we have to take our stand. We have to be intentional about walking in our freedom. There are times when we have every reason to feel fear, the situation is real. The negative report is real. The bank balance is real. But we can’t be overcome by it, we have to DEAL with it. We have to combat it with the proper tool, the sword of the spirit which is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17). We can’t just jab the sword once, we have to speak it incessantly.
All doubts start in our minds, to travel to your heart they have to pass your mouth. We cannot allow the doubts to be released from our mouths. Instead we have to release the Word from our mouth. Jesus said we will have what we SAY not what we FEEL (Mark 11:23-24). You cannot defeat thoughts with thoughts, you must defeat them with your words. We have to use the right tool when coming against fear (doubt, or any other negative emotion), the Word of God coming out of our mouths. When we do that, fear cannot touch us.
Lord, I know that he who the Son has set free is free indeed (John 8:36). I thank you that I walk in my freedom daily. Thank you for the Holy Spirit, who is my teacher and counselor, showing me how to walk free. I refuse thoughts of fear, worry, anxiety, depression, self-doubt, discouragement (insert whatever you are dealing with) and I declare myself free according to Your Word. I thank you that I have the mind of Christ and a peace that passes all understanding. In Jesus Name, amen.
