Day 8: Schools
“ You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children…” - Deuteronomy 6:5-7a (NKJV)
Most of our children attend non-Christian public and private schools that forbid prayer and Biblical instruction. As Christians let’s look at the school systems as our partners in education and not our enemy. We do our part to instruct our children in God’s Word (Bible knowledge, Biblical principles, and Godly values). The school systems do their part to instruct our children in academics and social behaviors. Schools are also charged with keeping our children safe physically and emotionally.
In general, we are in agreement with what the schools teach. When we disagree, we should speak up, but not without prayer and divine strategies. The schools and their personnel are not perfect but, neither are we as parents, Christian schools, or Church. Let’s pray for the schools, the administrators, teachers, and staff (remembering that many are Christians), that they will make wise choices, protect our children from the evils of society, and come into compliance with the principles of God’s Word.
Today, I declare that Godly men and women rise to positions of leadership and influence throughout our public, private, and Christian schools. I declare that excellence in academic instruction and caring for our students are the norm in our schools and that Biblical principles become the standards that characterize our schools and their personnel.
Our students are safe: spiritually, physically, emotionally, and socially. Our students are growing in wisdom (academic excellence), stature (healthy and physically sound), and in favor with God (spiritual maturity) and with mankind (godly leaders in our society). (Luke 2:52)
