Family Matters Schedule
This year we are happy to have guest speaker Diane Tohline. Diane Tohline teaches seminars on Parenting, Family Life, Marriage, and other topics. Her messages are packed with helpful illustrations, practical steps, and tools to equip the audience with an ability to apply God’s Word to their lives. Her personable and animated style will capture the attention. Diane and her family were partners at IFC for many years until they moved to OKlahoma.

Parenting With the Big Picture in Mind

The Big Picture of parenting has to be viewed from the eternal perspective. God has a design for each child. They come to us with unique gifts and talents and potential all packaged inside a tiny bundle. There is purpose that God desires to be fulfilled. Before, or if, that emerges, there is a lot of training, molding, and shaping. If parents catch a glimpse of a birds-eye view it will give living in the trenches a different perspective.

The BIG PICTURE of parenting helps us see where we are going and maps our course to ensure we don’t get off track. When we answer the questions of What, Why, and How- we can see from the Big Picture window a larger scope of our course.
The What – Here is the bottom line –My job is to raise up children who can choose to listen to their spirits. Who know the difference between the voice of their flesh and the voice of their spirit and understand the war between the two.
The Why – You might have thought it as to have good kids that won’t embarrass you! God has entrusted us with these arrow that He wants to use in the Kingdom for His glory.
The How – Now there is the job—and it will take all of the 18 years they live at home and more!!! We will cover that too.
THE BIG PICTURE VIEW:
  • What is God’s purpose for our children? Children were not just our idea. He has a Divine Plan for each one.
  • What is God’s purpose for us as parents? What does God see as our role?
  • What is God’s purpose in us training our children?
  • What is God’s purpose in the discipline of children?

    The Big Picture keeps the end in mind:
  • Children who know how to listen to their spirit and transfer accountability from us to God.
  • Children who know how to listen to their spirits and be spirit-led.

  • Children who know how to hear and obey God’s voice.

    Wherever you are in the timeline of raising your children I want to encourage you that the time is right. You cannot rewind and go back a season (how we all wish we could)! Whatever you invest will reap dividends in your future. It is my heart desire to help you be proactive instead of reactive.
